Favorite Nintendo Game
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 02:00 AM by WillyBrandt
Rule: It must be an 8-bit NES Game.

(Please try to include a game besides the Zelda games, Super Mario Bros., or Duck Hunt.)

My absolute favorite game: Bionic Commando

Hardly anyone has heard of this game, but it's by far the best I've ever played.

4. Welcome to DU, and great choices
Last summer my brother and I fired up the NES, and played the TMNT Arcade Game. We took a shot every time we beat a level (a boss).

Holy shit we were trashed....

Great game

25. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 06:53 AM by Tredge
My God I must've studied that game magazine for hours. I defeated all challengers. I shook up Soda Popinski. Super Macho Man fell in my wake. But when I fought Mike Tyson I had to get technical, and finally I was able to muster all the strength at my command. I finally defeated him, after re-training my brain to send a twitchy signal to my thumbs when his avatar flashed like lightning. I swerved! I ducked! I dodged! And most of all I punched, and after it was all over I decided I should've spent more time playing Legend of Zelda II.

5. Super Mario 3 and Tetris.
Back in the day, I was a Tetris fiend...I'd see phantom Tetris blocks scrolling down the backs of my eyelids when I went to sleep. Heh.

16. Very good picks.
Something strangely intoxicating about beating six high schoolers to death with a metal trashcan and then happily chowing down on sushi you've bought with the money that appears in place of their rapidly decomposing bodies. :D

12. Metroid. Also Ghosts 'n' Goblins
First game I really got sucked into as a kid. The Mario and Zelda games, as people mentioned, are also great.

As for Ghosts 'n' Goblins, if you can beat that (which mens beat it TWICE), you are truly a godlike arcade gamer.

23. Super Mario Bros. 2
Yeah, that's right... Super Mario Bros. 2. Even though it wasn't a real Mario game (they took some funky middle-eastern game named Doki Doki Panic, put Mario characters in it, and sold it in the U.S. as Mario 2) it's still my favorite. I just love the "Arabian dream" design throughout the game, plus it was the first game to have a difference between Mario and Luigi, and have the Princess and Toad as playable characters.

Runner up would be The Legend of Zelda. My friends and I used to spend countless summer mornings playing that damn game. Oh, and how could I forget about the Power Pad and the Track and Field game that came with it? Hey, it was exercise for young video game junkies!

27. My favorite Nintendo game is
the one where you grab the game and all it's pieces of paraphernalia, take it outside, set it on the driveway, and pound it to pieces with a hammer, then dump the pieces in the garbage. I get a thrill out of conquering the game every time!
