Any creative DU peeps have ideas for projects connected to children's books?

I'm volunteering at my kids' school and they have an annual event where the kids visit different "stations" and do a project related to a children's book. (I believe the kids hear an explanation/excerpt from the book first). For example, a "Where the Wild Things" are station might involve making a monster mask. A "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" station might involve making slime or flubber or whatever you want to call that stuff.

It seems like the stations involving food are among the most popular. One idea I had was to do a "Charlotte's Web" station and have the kids make their own webs out of red licorice.

Does anyone else have any great ideas? Thanks! :hi:

There is a series of books recently discontinued where actual gems were hidden all around the country and the readers of the books would try to find them. Actual gems, totalling $1 million.

I will have to search for the info because I pulled all of my stuff off my old computer to put on my new one, but I will PM it to you.

The kids are 2nd grade through 5th grade.

And, yes, I'll bet they'd love the farting dog thing. I'll bet there's a way to make a disgusting odor like that ... Hmmm ... *scratches head*

7. How old are the kids?

There are a lot of things to do with "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" for kindergarten and grade 1. Just do a search. I think they even have a website.

I remember one of the lessons involved printing with balloons to make the caterpillar's body. It was really cute.
