When the hell am I getting HD Cable?!
sigh...

Two years ago I bought a bitchin' HD television. It's great for videogames and DVD's, but my cable company (comcast) STILL doesn't broadcast anything in HD.

Of course, I'll need an HD Tivo to go with it....

1. You local broadcasters are - get a HDTV tuner.
You could buy a HDTV tuner and just skip the cable company all together. Here in Seattle all the major channels are HDTV except Fox (fall of this year apparently). The PBS station has 3 or 4 HD channels, but rarely are they all broadcasting HDTV.

2. MY TV has an HD tuner built in
but there really isn't any useful antenna reception where I live. There are mountains between me and most of the broadcasters.

3. I feel your pain
I'm actually the opposite. I live pretty close to downtown Seattle so to get a proper pull on the 3 main TV towers (each only about 2 miles away as the crow flies), I'd need 3 unidirection antennas. Instead I'm using a Terk Omni directional so I get somewhat mixed results. There is a cool website that can show you exactly where to point your antennas - I think there is a url to it from the Terk website.

Hopefully the market will respond to the need for better HDTV antennas soon.

8. I've got Con-cast HD in Nashville
We get three local stations (the big three networks), ESPNHD and two INHDs (their proprietary HD channels).

The local PBS was supposed to be up and running in November, but nothing yet.

The local Fox station does not yet have a digital broadcast, so we can't get that one yet. I've been told that's coming later this year.

And I am DYING for a TivoHD! I wonder if I'll still need to rent the cable box once I get that. Hmmm....

(About "Con-cast": I can't think of a good disparaging, yet appropriate alter-name for Comcast, ala "TicketBastard". Anybody got one they'd like to share?)
