Whats your take on the Viacom-Dish Network feud?
I'm torn, myself. While I like seeing someone tell Viacom to GFY, all it's doing is driving people to Uncle Rupert's Direct TV.

1. Isn't what Viacom is doing violating the Sherman Antitrust Act? EOM

3. This is almost identical to a dispute -
between Time Warner Cable and Disney-ABC some years ago. They settled.

2. I think they'll settle.
They need each other. Dish Network can't afford to not have CBS in major cities, especially with the NCAA starting next week. Viacom can't afford any more bad press, especially after the Super Bowl halftime boob and the Stern-Clear Channel debacle.

Dish claims it's a 40% increase in Viacom fees. Viacom says it's a smaller increase, and even so it's less than what Dish is paying for ESPN alone.

It's still not enough to drive me to Uncle Rupert. No, thank you.

I almost switched to Directtv before, but it was right about the time that murdoch took over, so i changed my mind.
this time i'm not going to change my mind- i'm signing up with DirectTV- the equipment order has been placed.
my cost will be about $5 bucks more per month than at DISH, but i'll be able to sell my equipment/DISH Smart cards on ebay for a couple hundred bucks, which will more than cover that increase for several years.(although i may have to wait to sell...i'm guessing that htere's going to be a glut of DISH equipment for sale)
