1. Mom once named a cat Rosemary
'cause her mottled gray fur "was kind of wild and free...".

She was never an indoor cat, but came to the back porch to be fed (and sometimes loved). Then after a few months she stopped coming. One day, we were down in the basement with a friend, and there was Rosemary -- suckling four kitties! We took the orange tabby and our friend took the pure white one. "Charmin" would be impregnated by Tanna's Tonkinese before we could get her to the vet; the result was a sable-brown kitty we named Kwan Yin, who became an intensely shiny matte black as she matured.

So it was that scruffy Rosemary's granddaughter turned out to be the most beautiful creature who ever lived on this Earth.

12. The First Class was another Tony Burrows project
"Beach Baby" is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is physiologically impossible to listen to that song and be depressed.

17. I hate that song because in Philadelphia
Rosemarys are called Ro, which has two sylables: "Raoo-ow". Philadelphians murder long "o" sounds - it sounds like a dying cat.

And of course every large Catholic family in the 60's had a Ro.

The one conversation you never want to hear from two people with heavy Philly accents:

"Saaa-ow, is Raa-ow comin'?"
"Naa-ow, Raa-ow couldnt make it"
