Need a good safe place for adolescents online (Posting art)
I have two budding artists, who love to share anime bases and themes. Right now they are using "Deviant Art" and I'm just not comfortable with it.

I could really use some suggestions, so that I can look into it while they are at school.

Two girls, ages 12 and 14.

Thanks in advance!

1. Two come to mind, one very much like deviantart in concept
art.net
Elfwood

Both are gallery-type sites; I don't think art.net is the one I was looking for, though. There once was a similarly-named site that allowed you to paint in real time online with an online audience. I'm not sure of that site url any more.

Elfwood has been around longer than deviantart. I think it's probably tamer, but I don't know that for sure. You'll just have to have a look around and see for yourself :)

3. I use deviantART.
Just out of curiosity, why does it make you uncomfortable? If it's because of adult/mature content, did you know that all adult/mature submissions have to be marked as such (or face deletion,) and that you can check a box under your profile settings to screen out all such content?

8. Here's how to find it, 'cause it's tricky:
On the kid's profile page (what you get to by clicking their username,) find the dark grey menu bar at the top that says stuff like "Shop/devWear/Collections" etc. All the way to the right, there's a drop-down menu that says "More." Click on that menu, then choose "Account Tools," then "Edit Settings." On the edit page, look to the left--there's another menu that says stuff like "General/Browsing" etc. Hit the "Browsing" link. The page that comes up with have some checkboxes--one says Show: Deviations with Mature Content." Uncheck that box, then Click "Ok" at the bottom.

9. He is right, and DeviantArt is definitely the best site out there for them to get feedback...
Just go to the settings page in their accounts, under the Browsing tab, and just uncheck the box that says "Show Deviations with Mature Content." The nude and fetish photography forums are automatically marked as mature.

Deviantart is probebably the best online art community out there, so I would defintely encourage them to stay there.
