Two months at DU... what I have learned...
I've been around for a couple of months now and I really like being here. All you kind folks are a treasure trove of information I can use to clobber all my right-wing friends. This is also a fine place to vent and express my opinions.

There also seems to be some kind of subculture around here which is really complex. I kinda feel like the anthropologist watching an isolated tribe from the trees. Here's what I've learned...

1. Robb is a dingbat

There seems to be a general consensus on this issue. Everything else is pretty confusing. Some of the most frequent posters around here seem to know a lot about each other. What am I missing? Are some of you all good friends outside of DU?

2. Quite a few have met
off line.

A lot of us met up last fall when Will Pitt breezed through our towns on his book tour.

Where do you live?

I wasn't on DU back then though. I'm in Canada now.

3. Yes.. lots have met up in the real world
a few have met, fallen in love and even married :)

Loungers are especially "familiar"..

Robb named himself the dingbat, and naturally, no one disagreed :)

Welcome aboard :hi:

6. Yes, some of us do get together offline
In fact, we just had a gathering in Chicago this Sunday and about 20 people attended.

There's also PMs, e-mails, AIM, Yahoo and telephone calls — lots of ways people are getting to know each-other.

7. Agreed. There are Chicago DU'ers who...
..socialize quite a bit off-line.

And you're all coming to see the band on St. Paddy's Day, right. Right!?

8. Hi and welcome.
Don't worry about cliques...everyone is very inclusive here. I have met some (like Matcom) in person but I gotten to know most others very well via e-mail and I feel like I have met them. Take your time and enjoy this very good place! :-)
