OK people a hygiene lesson here.
Well it's not so much as a lesson as an independent report of me.

When I used to take a bath I would get out sweaty and I immediately needed deodorant because, well I imminently needed deodorant.

Then I started taking baths in epsom salts, (a few cups in the water) and I don't need deodorant right away. I think that the epsom salts draws out bacteria amount other things and that's why.

Epsom salts are cheep and a good way to detoxify you body.

Love,

Me, who just got out of the bath.

3. I take showers and I don't sweat after I take them.
I put on deoderant anyway though as a part of my daily hygene ritual.

5. I can't believe I am the only one who experiences this. I have good
hygiene and I don't go around in my day stinking. If I don't use the Epsom salts in the bath I have this happen. Maybe it's because the bath is hot and the shower is not so hot and I sweat more in the bath.

Years ago I was in this sauna and this very old woman in very good health was rubbing handfuls of Epsom salts over her body during the sauna and that is where I got the idea that Epsom salts are good for you, especially if you are sweating.

14. Yea sit in a real hot bath for 1/2 hour and see if you don't sweat.
Edited on Sun Mar-29-09 06:26 PM by Maraya1969
All your pours get opened and that is a good thing. It's almost like going into a sauna. Sweating is a good thing.

I also use rough scratchy towels and rub hard and that gets the dead skin off. If you did the same thing you would see dead skin peeling off of your arms and legs.

17. I never understood why you don't take a warm shower afterward
My ex-wife used to soak in a scalding bath for over an hour. I couldn't quite figure out out stewing in a tub got you any cleaner than a hot shower with good soap and a loofah. I think it was mostly the relaxation aspect of it.

Can you just take a lukewarm shower afterward? That'll keep the sweating down and wash all the skin off too. Kill two birds with one stone in a way.

22. Nice post, O'Reilly
:hide:

I cannot fill my garden tub with hot water. It runs out. I fill it until I have enough to take the bath and try to save some hot water for rinsing off afterward. I couldn't take a bath and a shower right afterward, except in the summer when I do take cold showers on purpose.

23. You take a bath in your garden tub?
what's your address?

Whenever I take a bath (which is not too often, as showers are easier and quicker and consume less water), I usually end up taking a short shower afterward to rinse off. Otherwise, I feel like I've been stewing in my own filth and can't get it off me unless I rinse it off.

24. Well, it's called a garden tub from the brochure.
It's just a huge tub (I only fill it halfway) in the corner of the bathroom in my master bedroom. I love it. I take showers most of the time, but take bubble baths with Epsom salt on the weekends for the pure fun of it.

18. Epsom Salts are basically Magnesium (oxide? I think?).
They do have therapeutic purposes according to science.

But I would think that body odor or sweating would have more to do with what a person is eating or drinking than what they are bathing in.

The bathing is a solution to a problem, but the sweating is probably a symptom reflecting another behavior.

19. This will sound weird, but have you tried Head and Shoulders Shampoo as a body wash?
The zinc may help rid your skin of the bacteria that may be causing your body odor. Skin can have an over abundance of yeast, not just on your scalp, which may be your issue.

I take warm bubble baths in the winter and cool bubble baths in the summer. That helps too.

21. One of my favorite epitaphs (saw it in a book somewhere)
Here lies Jerimiah Jones and his two daughters

Who died from drinking bacterial waters

If they had stuck to epsom salts

They wouldn't be laying in these here vaults

27. I'm all for epsom salt
I'm glad you found a solution to your after bath thing. When the weather is hot, I too sweat after taking a shower. For me, I think it's about my menopausal hormones.

However, deodorant works best if the skin is slightly damp before you apply. So, don't forget to dip your hand in a bit of water and pat your underarms before you put on the deodorant.

As well, it's best if your skin is slightly damp when you apply body lotion and facial creams.
