Oxymoron? Feel "fortunate" to have a job, but becoming very unhappy
Edited on Wed Mar-25-09 06:38 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
I work for a company where there is nepotism, and the son of the owner is making my life a living hell. He's in his 20s (but acts about 12).

I'm starting to worry that he has it out for me, too. He's getting into my business (I said I didn't have time to do something for him (long story), so he sent my boss an email, asking what my workload what like; he sends emails that are rude and is just plain hostile and juvenile.

Another thing: the owner's daughter, who lives out of town, was given the responsibility of redesigning and editing the company newsletter last fall. Up until then, that was my job. For my part, I make sure articles are written on time, I send the materials to the daughter, arrange for printing and distribute the newsletters.

I'm completely freaking out and really worried I'm getting ready to be let go.

I can feel my blood pressure rising (not good).

4. Yeah, I have kind of the same concerns.
Our main client just brought in a nephew, who was a hot shot at a failed company in an entirely different industry. I can just hear this guy telling my client how he can do what we're doing himself...

5. Man...I wish they'd make a law against this kind of thing...
Get this: This dude has also been known to do such things as go through people's garbage (he asked my co-worker why she threw away a notebook (the rings were broken); he took it back to his office); turn off people's fans/heaters at their desk when they walk away for a moment; and send me rude emails, telling me not to send him acknowledgments when he emails me something I've been expecting (in other words, don't send an email saying "thank you.").

What is that????

6. That sounds very stressful. I would start looking for a new job just
to get away from the family situation. Doesn't sound satisfying to me. And if you are going to work hard for people you should get satisfaction somehow.
