Does your cat get mad when you clean its litter box
and stare at you with a "What the hell do you think you're doing?" look?

1. Yes. He seems puzzled that I would walk away with all his carefully buried poo.
Frankly, I wonder the same thing sometimes.

2. No, but they line up to use it before I finish scooping.
It is like they want to get that one last bit in there so it'll get scooped. When my boy cat, Yogi, gets out, he takes two double handfuls of litter with him and makes a mess. He's got some big feet too. I'm still not sure why he does that. I mean, he picks up his food later and eats with those same paws.

3. I wonder why training cats to use the toilet is not more common.
I have already decided if I get another kitten, I'm getting one of those kits that teaches them. I'm usually pretty good at training my cats though, except when Yogi steps on my keyboard. I cannot seem to break him from it. I've seriously considered letting him post an OP.

21. I saw an article in the paper about that
It was something like 27 steps. Suffice to say it was full of human intentions merrily thwarted, presumed progess, setback, open rebellion, repeat, repeat etc.,return to litter box and sanity in life. Don't count on it.

5. No, but my brother's cat gets pissed when its not cleaned on his timetable.
Once, my brother was way late in changing the litter, so James (the cat) woke me up at 3:30 in the morning to do it. I scooped HIM up and put him outside instead.

6. On the contrary
Mine complains when there's ANY poo in it. It's like he expects me to run after him with a scoop.

:)

And if Widget can't dump, he leaves a softball-sized clump of litter when he does his "I pee like a horse" trick.

14. it's clean, I need to use it now
Hi,
Hehehe, funny comments. Like many here, my sweet Sophie always seems to use the box shortly after I scoop it, and she probably has one of the cleanest boxes in town. I scoop when I get up in the morning, when I get home from work, and then at some point at night. You would think all that cleaning would prevent her from kicking a nice pile of litter outside her box, but no.

Peace

is her gift to you. ;)

Aren't they all just a bunch of goofballs? I love my two cats dearly. :)

16. a gift
Hi,
Oh, okay, I'll try to think of it as such when I am cleaning it up! She is a sweet cat though, but has a bit more attitude than previous cats I have had.

Peace

17. No, but
Plato usually waits and takes a big steamy one as soon as I'm done. :P

Quark sometimes comes by and looks at me and wrings his hands that I chose *that particular moment* to clean the boxes when he really needs to go.

as soon as I leave, jumps in to defile it again.

20. Well, SHE won't clean the damn thing!
Really, I have tried to get her to clean it herself... we have this conversation whenever she walks into the kitchen and finds me cleaning the box.

22. I clean it when he's out so there's no fighting over the intake/exhaust ratio
I can break down the box and get everything out, some of which is buried under 4" of litter. Pour back in some more without getting a cat covered in it, and put it all away.
