I went and mouthed off again....

I try to not do that, but it seems like when you don't speak up, things can start sliding the wrong way. What's a body to do?

1. Same here.
I get my ass in more trouble by being honest than anything else. You are always told to be honest and if you do live by that, it always gets you in trouble. Never fails. I don't know why.

2. I really don't get it...

...you're expected to be political, go along and cooperate, and when you do you get screwed.

When you speak up, though, you have to worry about consequences related to that. So, I guess you decide what is worse, huh?

When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose.

That's what helped me to make a right decision tonight. I'll probably be skewered for it down the road, but I know I did the right thing.

4. Ultimately you have to live with yourself..

...and when you're old and sitting in the nursing home, thinking back, what are you going to think about yourself? Did you try? Did you do your best? If you did, there's nothing more to do except spare yourself grief that you don't deserve and didn't bring on yourself.

5. Being able to sleep soundly at night and live with yourself.
That is the most important thing of all. Honesty is not always easy, but it's the right thing to do.

6. Been known to do that a time or two myself.
Once, I got in the face of a cop, though I will admit I held myself back from saying what was REALLY in my mind to say.
