James travels to California to take a look at what is being hailed as the future of motoring — the hydrogen-powered Honda Clarity. He stops by Jay Leno's garage to get his take on the model.

Out on the test track, Jeremy has a high-voltage encounter with the Tesla, a battery-powered supercar.

Richard takes an affectionate look back at 50 years of touring car racing.

The Star in the Reasonably Priced Car is none other than living legend Tom Jones.

In addition, BBCAmerica is showing Season 8 on Thursdays at 8pm now. This week is Season 8, Episode 2. The Corvette Z06 and Jag XK. Hammond takes the Tomcat 4WD vs. Motor powered kayak race in Iceland. Presenting a drive time radio show, how hard can it be? Gordon Ramsey is the SITRPC.

1. The Stig caught by Google Street View

Looks like a cardboard cutout to me...

Thanks for the Thursday heads-up. I heard that was a good one but I've always missed it. Will make a point to watch this time--for sure!

2. I saw that. I think it's an in-office cardboard standup as well.
I doubt seriously Stiggy goes into that building very often.

7. Nothing wrong with that.
I love Corvettes - and Jags are my alltime favorite cars. Rest assured I will be planted in front of the TV, at 8pm on Thursday night. Woot!

10. Wait, what?
Don't tease me - is there a radio show with these goofballs as hosts? Or are you talking about a radio show ON the show?

11. They take over the drivetime report on BBC2, I believe.
In other words, they're live on the air during the drive home hours on the radio. Imagine taking traffic reports from those three, considering they don't know how to use the equipment.

12. No, just BBC Southern Counties Radio...
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 12:59 AM by mwooldri
Local radio for Surrey & Sussex. - Top Gear took the Sussex drivetime program: those in Surrey in the more traffic congested area got their usual programming.

Program-wise not a bad station. If you're in a car driving around, don't turn on the RDS. The station broadcasts split programming to Surrey and Sussex but all identify as Southern Counties Radio. It's possible to drive around with the RDS on tuned into Southern Counties Radio and the station switch programs on you - repeatedly. It's going to be cured soon with separate stations for Surrey and Sussex plus some transmission realignments (like not having a Sussex program transmitter placed in the middle of Surrey).

As for the Top Gear Takes Over Drivetime, I'm downloading the entire 2.5 hours of their radio show as we speak.

6. Fuck Clarkson and May - I STILL want a Tesla.
My commute is 16 miles round trip, 20 if I go to the gym after work. The Tesla would be great for me.

Of course, the Clarity is the long range answer, but until then...

8. The Tesla conking out was a bit of Top Gear trickery.
So a hydrogen powered Ferrari, then? I'm in.
