Would you consider me a drama queen if I told you...
*sigh* I can't even say it.

I guess, if the Lounge isn't all out of vibes, I need one or two more...

getting some needles in my neck (tomorrow) & I keep freaking out about it.

It's weird. I didn't mind the three steroid shots. And, I thought I was looking

forward to the procedure tomorrow (to try to get some relief). Then, today, it

just sort of hit me...

OK. Somebody - PLEASE - tell me I'm being a baby... ok?!

Where is Skittles? I need an ass-kicking!

:scared:

1. It's perfectly natural to be nervous before surgery. You're not being a baby.
From me, you can have all the vibes you want. You know I'm pulling for ya! B-)

Now calm down, or I WILL get Skittles to kick your ass! :7

7. Nope. No Drama-Queen, just a regular person who has some understandable concerns.
Would you consider me to be a "Freaky Wierdo"
if I told you that I've peeked into the future
and SEEN that everything is going to come out OK for you tomorrow?

17. As I said: understandable. No biggie. No need to cry.
Less understandable is this:
I really am a freakish mutant who sees every potential FUTURE all at once,
and every potential timeline involving your procedure tomorrow is BORING.

No complications, no bad news, no nothing you didn't already know.

Apart from the needles, your "tomorrow"
is about as interesting as going through the Drive-thru at McDonalds.

You should stop worrying and get some rest. Boring or not, there will be needles.
Big ones.

You need to be very RELAXED to face big needles, IMO.

On a personal note, I really hate it when people "thank" me.
Please stop doing that, could you please?
It just annoys me to no end.

try being the poor sap that's got to put an IV into me :D

once it's in and secured, i'm good to go...

i've been lucky that both times i was hospitalized with staph infections my nurses were cool and didn't make it any harder for me than it needed to be. plus one was nice enough to bring me ice cream from the local ice cream shop... only after i talked her into it... who can resist death by chocolate.

26. Use the phrase "three little pricks" in a medical context, and I envision three little
bald, profit-crazed scut monkeys yammering on and on about the importance of tort reform and boring the hell out of their patient.

I hope that's not what's in store for you...

32. Sort of a change in subject...
but please don't let me keep you from your studies. Have you EVER heard of someone getting a needle broken in their arm when getting an inoculation? Happened to me when I was 16. Just before the nurse did it, I joked with my younger sisters it would happen. True story... I swear it!

33. No, it's all right. I really think I'm done for the night. My brain is hurting again.
I'll have an hour and a half or so to do some final studying before the test tomorrow morning. I just ran some memory drills on the big subjects, and did all right.

I've heard of the occasional needle break, but never experienced one before. I don't know what the person administering the immunization would have to do to get the needle to break. I've had some pretty squirmy patients before, but usually all they were able to do was yank the needle out of their arm. Sometimes I just want to shout: "Just hold f*****g still, and it'll be over in two seconds!"

What happened with you and the needle break? Did you faint or anything? Had patients faint on me, too...

34. Nope, didn't faint. I was macho back then...
but I turned, after I heard the snapping sound, just as the nurse grabbed it and pulled it out of my arm. It's the last time I ever looked at any procedure involving a needle!!

Luckily, I've never fainted. Once, I almost did, when I saw my older sister break her ankle. She is a nurse, though, and had to tell me to sit down and put my head between my knees. lol

Hey, just a little advice about studying tough subjects & then I won't mention it again. When I had very difficult tests, I learned that whatever I studied just prior to falling asleep stuck. You might try it!

no one looks forward to needles or any medical interventions...it's for your own good and all, but if they wanted to make ME comfortable they'd stop my place to do it (I wouldn't keep them waiting) and then split. It would be nice if they came with a chai latte too.

Of course it's okay to wish it away...just remember that the worst part of the whole expedition will also be the shortest part.

Take care, Haole Girl. Have a warm bath before bed. It feels especially good to sleep when you are washed and warm. We'll be here waiting for you tomorrow.

43. I had a spinal needle, three times. Last time, when I had encephalitis, they said don't move.
I puked all three times. Mostly because I was scared. But they all came out okay.

You'll be fine. :)
