To celebrate spring, here are some images of two parents-to-be.
I am fortunate to have a pair of eastern bluebirds nesting in my yard this spring in one of my boxes. Here are just a few images of the proud parents-to-be.

Here are the soon-to-be bluebirds.

1. Oh wow!
I love all of them, but especially the pic of the eggs. Did the proud parents-to-be know you got that close?! lol

3. Oh yes, they both did.
Any time one walks near the box, the female flies out and keeps a watch on everything. The male will usually fly around to try to distract whoever is there. I wanted to show my kids and take a picture of the eggs so we quickly opened the box, took the picture, gazed a bit at the eggs and then closed the box. It hasn't been disturbed since nor will it again until the little ones are hatched.

2. Beautiful pics.
Eastern Bluebirds are one of those birds though that no matter how good the photo, it never quite does them justice..They are SPECTACULAR to see...:)

5. They are spectacular birds.
The male especially at this time of the year has such rich, vibrant blue plumage.

11. Thanks Tigereye.
I put out four boxes with plenty of mealworms at the feeders. I had as many as 5-7 bluebirds this spring checking out the boxes but as soon as one of the males found its mate and claimed my yard as territory, the others left. These two plus the wrens are really eating the mealworms like mad!

14. Thanks Call Me Wesley
That one turned out a bit better than I had originally thought when I first looked at it on my little LCD viewer on my camera. The little strings of spider silk do add to it.

17. What is even funnier is watching the male
defend the mealworm feeder from the only other bird small enough to get inside it, a bewick's wren.

10. Beautiful!
The hummingbirds will be nesting soon - I'll try to get pictures this year. I got a new lens, but I know my photos won't be nearly as good as yours, which are excellent!

22. That woudl be cool.
I'd love to see them. I had a good hummingbird migration last fall and I hope to have a good one this spring although fall is usually better for me. My feeders are already up.

26. You know, I really do not know.
It has been growing wild just outside of my yard for several years now. It is just now big enough for the birds to perch on it. As it blossoms, I will see what develops.

18. My favorite birds!
Thank you for sharing...I have a pair that come around every spring...there is usually a battle between the bluebirds and the sparrows for the house. Haven't seen the bluebirds yet, but the sparrows are out in full force!

Do you know how long it takes their eggs to hatch? That will be so cute with baby bluebirds in your yard.
