Poll question: Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 10:18 AM by Swede
The world is geared for the extroverts of the world. No help wanted ad ever asks for an ingoing person.

9. Interesting poll...
Is that why we are all here on the internet instead of out doing something with someone? (in my case, yes.)

31. Yes. In my case it's because I simply can't do small talk.
I am seriously completely incapable of small talk, I don't get it either. It seems like the human equivalent of monkeys grooming each others.

*sigh*

13. Ambivert
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraversion_and_introversion#Extraversion

Ambiversion
Although many people view being introverted or extraverted as a question with only two possible answers, most contemporary trait theories (e.g. the Big Five) measure levels of extraversion-introversion as part of a single, continuous dimension of personality, with some scores near one end, and others near the half-way mark.

Ambiversion is a term used to describe people who fall more or less directly in the middle and exhibit tendencies of both groups. An ambivert is normally comfortable with groups and enjoys social interaction, but also relishes time alone and away from the crowd.

15. If I said to my husband
"Hey, this poll on DU says that the majority of posters are introverts." he'd say "OMG introverts on the intarwebz?!"

I like to think that the net is where the introverts get a chance at running the show.

21. Screw everybody and everything
Does that answer your question? If not, consider this; If I have any money left oin 11 years, I plan on buying a boat and floating down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico. I will be perfectly happy just staying on the river, drinking beer, fishing, and saying the hell with the world.

Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 07:57 PM by mainegreen
I'm either full on, type A dominant extroverted personality, or I'm a reclusive, incapable of speech mountain hermit. Rarely am I in the middle. Totally depends on my mood, the color of the wall, whatever. Never know.

29. My dear Swede...
I'm truly a mixture, a little of both...

I can be very shy, believe it or not...

But when I'm comfortable, look out! I can be very outgoing!

I guess I'd say: Shy at the core, and bold on the outside.

Interesting question...

:hi:

30. Totally introverted.

I can't stand the "must be a people person" obsession employers have even for jobs where being a people person is not necessary. It especially screws people with Asperger's Syndrome like myself.

40. I alternate.
I stay home with my honey a lot.

And we go out and socialize sometimes. However, we both need to "rest up" after we've been around people, even if they are compatible friends of ours (read: Creative, intelligent, interested in the arts).
