Oh no you didn't
Sucker tried to play me
But you never paid me, Neva
Oh no you didn't
Payback is a' coming
You will be runnin', foreva
Oh no you didn't
Until i get me vengeance
I will never end this mayhem
Oh no you didn't

Every now and then I'll have a cigarette, just to remind myself why I quit...but I wouldn't recommend doing that until you're several years smoke-free.

The cigarette itself is kind of nice. But when it's done I remember the nasty stale smoke stench and that heavy feeling swimming around in my lungs.

Breathing is so much nicer than cigarettes.

Congrats to you! I hope you stick it out.

33. I last smoked at the age of 14, when my hair caught on fire.
Leaning over a Bunsen burner at school did the trick.

As for smoking cigarettes: actively I have smoked exactly two and a bit cigarettes in my life, one at a very young age (my dad let me have a drag on his cigarette - it instantly put me off) and another time when I was completely drunk at the age of 20 - I smoked four half-cigarettes, completely going green in the process. Passive-smoking, well every time I visit my father-in-laws that happens. He smokes like an old fashioned freight train in motion and he really should quit.

Just went over 21 years free of alcohol on the 10th of March, stopped using tobacco a year or so after that.

Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever gave up, and the thing I am most proud of giving up. They really suck, and so do those people who make and sell them.

Remember to NEVER pick up a cigarette again. For me it was harder to quit after I started back, having been cigarette free for 5 years. For some reason I thought it would be as easy to quit again as it was the first time. Nope.

For me tobacco is weird. I have spent more time as an adult as a non smoker than a smoker. but every few years for some idiotic reason, I pick it up again. This time it was three years. fter quitting for four.

Smoking is just a little self loathing excersise, if you ask me.

Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 12:24 PM by DevonRex
and my next cartridges will be zero nicotine. I'm SO happy.

I had quit for 5 years and stupidly started again. I tried many times to quit after that and always started back again whenever life got stressful, like elections and stuff.

So, I realized that I had to have something to mimic smoking and got the e-cig. It works. It really works. You start with high nicotine and gradually decrease to zero.

68. Update: 20 days now.
I'm finding it a LOT easier this time around. My best friend was just diagnosed with lung cancer and driving her to chemo every morning and sitting with her as they pump her full of chemicals, and sitting with her when the doctor gave her a 20% chance had a very sobering effect on me. If someone I've known for 45 years can suddenly have lung cancer, it could happen to me tomorrow.

It's not some abstract threat in a distant fantasy future. It's real, and it's right now. If you're a smoker the cancer might already be growing inside your lungs. For real! Quit now.

There's no question in my mind. I will never smoke again. Ever.

Remember, you have already been through the hardest part. It gets easier from now on. I became a nonsmoker 13 years ago March 16. Unfortunately, I had to watch someone die from cancer a couple of years ago. It's a terrible way to go. One day he started spitting up blood and he went to the doctor who told him he had Stage 4 lung cancer. He was gone within 3 weeks. I can't help but think what was going through his mind knowing that he should have had many more years of life but had caused his own early death. It's great that you made the change. Stay strong!:applause:
