Poll question: DU Women; how's your handshake?
I went to this mixer this weekend and after shaking hands with a few different women, I decided your handshakes run the gamut. I find it that men have the firm grip, some tend to tighten up as hard as possible others are a little weak, but for the most part they are the same. So, out of curiosity, how's your handshake?

Oh, and does it change if you are shaking a man's hand or a women's?

1. Other
A firm grip, but probably not as firm as a man's.

14. Another vote
for firm but not overbearning in business. I like showing that I'm a no-nonsense person.

But in merely social situations, I tend to mimic the handshake of whomever I am meeting at the moment.

3. A man's perspective
A firm handshake from a woman is sort of a turn-off for me. I try to do as close to the old style gentlemanly handshake type thing as possible with women (short of kissing the hand, of course), and it just doesn't strike me right when I get this vice grip attacking my hand in return. Then again, I never claimed to be normal.

5. Not a vise-like grip
But not soft doughy and too yielding. I get those from men sometimes, though. I guess it is really a personal choice for everyone, though. For me, a squishy handshake says "I will defer to you" or maybe "Hi, what am I doing here?" ;) I don't want to project that!

8. Understandable
A nice middle ground isn't bad. Course, I find handshakes with the opposite sex slightly awkward anyway.

if men can't kiss women's hands, maybe it should be only be polite when women must kiss men's..

7. my momma told me...
If you want to get anywhere in the world of men, you have to have a solid handshake. Men won't respect you in the business world if you give them a soggy fish to shake.

9. For men, sure.
I don't think that applies to women though. Cry "double standard" all you want, it's just not seen that way. It's a petty, barbaric macho thing for guys to have the firmest handshake possible, so I certainly would take that to be a good thing.

10. I like dressing more comfortably at formal occasions & less so on others.
not that it really matters...but hands developed from climbing and digging, not from shaking.

11. I shakes hands like a man but not too tightly
because I have arthritis in my right hand and it hurts. I don't want to encourage men to give me too tight a grip back.

15. Firm.
I grip nice and firm so that people know I'm excited and interested in meeting them.
But not so hard that it seems like I'm trying to intimidate them...if you can be intimidated by a small gal like myself.

16. Firm but I have weak hands
For whatever reason, I have poor hand and wrist strength even when the rest of my arm is fairly strong. I go for a firm handshake but know that my grip isn't anywhere near that of most men.
