1. I doubt it unless my German great grandfather was Jewish.
Since he was never married to my great grandmother, I don't know much about him.

3. Yep, one-half.
At least, biologically. My Grandma was Jewish, which made my Dad Jewish too, at least by blood. I, however, am not.

My ex (LyricKid's Dad) was fully Jewish, though. It's funny, in a way--because of the matrilineal descent thing, LyricKid is 3/4 Jewish by blood, but still not considered truly Jewish (at least not unless we all decide to convert and join a Reform temple.)

I've actually thought about doing precisely that, even to the point of talking to a local rabbi about it, for the sake of getting to know that part of my ancestry and letting LyricKid get to know *his*. I explained that I wasn't sure if God existed, to which the rabbi replied, "Well, so long as you aren't worshiping any OTHER Gods, I think you'd be alright."

9. i don't remember
Edited on Wed Mar-18-09 11:38 AM by CreekDog
i do remember that every song sounded the same. :eyes: :boring:

and every dance was basically the same.

the good thing is that if you got tired all you had to do was hold on.

i'm reminded of something Mike Nelson once said on MST3K:

"no matter where you are, folk dancing is always stupid."

11. Quite possibly, but only a tiny fraction
I have a cousin who says we had a Jewish ancestor from waaaay back-- probably originally from Slovakia in the early 1800s, but we don't know for sure. I'm probably only 1/16 if I am, and on my father's side, so technically speaking I'm not Jewish.

14. Maybe very distantly.
My Jewish friends have commented more than once on my middle name (which is my mom's maiden name--it's a Southern thing) because it sounds as if it could have been anglicized from the German version of a not-uncommon Jewish surname.
