Anyone know this song from the 90s? I don't remember lyrics enough to search.
There's a man voice AND a woman voice. In the chorus (I think it's the chorus) the woman seems to be singing "Boy, Johnny boy, Johnny boy..." then comes the man, singing something like "I get no doubt! (something unintelligible with 10 to 15 syllables that rhymes with "without")"

Any clues?

45. That song reminds me of my first couple of weeks at college....
....and things like Princess Di's death and the Marlins winning the World Series.

How things quickly went to shit that freshman year after those first couple of weeks, but that's a whole other story that I don't really care to get into.

8. Thank you folks! Being a furrinah sucks sometimes.
"Danny boy" became "Johnny boy."

"Knocked down" became "No doubt."

Geez.

10. Don't feel too bad. I learned it on vacation in England
while I was living in Canada. And the words are really hard to understand even for a native English speaker. :)

And you probably know all sorts of cool songs we Yanks are clueless about.

20. OMG both of these are tremendous. (The Hawaiian Engineers? ROFL)
What little Portuguese I understand is continental (I'm a Spanish-speaker who was "adopted" by a family from the Azores) so I'm missing a good chunk of the lyrics, but between what I grasp and the musicality of it I am completely entranced.

Off to find downloads for my .mp3 player.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am always open to more. ;)

But not today... it's late, and I only have mental energy enough to do searchs and post links. ;)

26. One bit of info.
All of these songs are from the 80s or, at most, early 90s. It was the pinnacle of pop-rock in Brazil. Ah, good times.

I'm old. :(

The lyrics consists largely of a listing of the best beaches in Brazil. This is actually some random family bunch of friends who decided to post their vacation photos as a YouTube video.

Our music is so limited here in the States. It's important to bring the rest of the world into our cultural game, as we ultimately are one. I really appreciate you taking the time to give us these clips.

36. Very Gilberto/Bossa Nova rhythm, but with some tango in there as well.
I can definitely hear Gilberto's rhythmic influence, with Astor Piazzola chords. Nifty.

41. Teen angst in extreme.
This is a song to listen to when you're 19 and your girlfriend has just dumped you.

Red Days

Today dawn didn't break
And I saw nothing
Or did I want to see nothing?
Not even the summer afternoons
They were no longer red
Like those of long ago

And how many times did I catch myself
Walking toward your arms
I got lost and tripped
Confused in my own steps

How many days will still come
Without us becoming steel?
We waited for flowers
To grow from the asphalt
Dust and acid

And how many times did I go wrong
Looking at the past
I got lost and tripped
Confused in my own steps

And how many times did I catch myself
Walking toward your arms
I got lost and tripped
Confused in my own steps

OK, that's enough for today. Nighty night.
