Anybody read "Brave New World"?
I read it in my early 20s.
It read like science fiction then.
Now it reads like...now.

That 19% who still love Bush remind me of that book. The Global Warming naysayers too. The issuance of the sound bite du jour means only one or two people need to come up with them. Everyone else just repeats them, whether they understand them or not.

Puts a whole new meaning on Rush's 'dittoheads' doesn't it.

Sometimes I really wish there was such a thing as Soma. :-( The idea of "feelies" continues to titillate. ;-)

7. Yes, I read it back in 2004
double-header with a 1984 re-read.

He really called it on the "throw away society" didn't he?

9. Actually trof, as I'm sure you
discovered, books we read in our youth, and then re-read them now hold a totally different meaning.

And to me, Brave New World is definitely one of those books.
