Update on my death threat-we found the bad guy

I met with the police this morning and found out who made the threatening message against me on Thanksgiving morning (it said that I would be "splattered" if I stood in front of my office on Elm St. in downtown Manchester).

It was made by a fellow named Keith Hirschmann. Hirschmann is a former Republican state representative and a former member of the Manchester Board of Aldermen. The police traced it backed to his house, and he admitted that he posted the message.

It is unlikely that charges will be filed. It would be difficult to establish the required mental state beyond a reasonable doubt, so a conviction would be tough to secure. Still, this guy has announced that he is running for his old aldermanic seat (not mine; it's a district across the river), so it is a legitimate topic of discussion.

I will also point out that Hirschmann is involved in a business venture with Joe Kelly Levasseur, a notorious right wing gadfly who has been on a crusade against me for the last year. Hirschmann manages the bar at Levasseur's restaurant, and the two were allies when both were aldermen about ten years ago.
