So I just started talking to my ex again

So I just started talking to my ex again
I texted on Saturday night. Got a response to my absolute astonishment. We spoke for 4 hours on Sunday afternoon. We are one another's best friend. I am just wondering: When is it OK to talk again? Would a e-mail tommorrow be appropriate or should I wait to not seem eager or desperate? What should I say if I do e-mail?

It was 22 months ago that we broke up; so to talk again after all this time is so very awesome.
