We're coming to DC this weekend.
Here's the itinerary our professor just sent out:
Friday, March 13
Yes, it’s Friday the 13th

11:00 am    Meet in front of Colson to depart.

2:30-3:30    Arrive at Hyatt Arlington at Key Bridge Rosslyn
(1325 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA; 702-525-1234)

If you are driving separately, I will have all extra keys in my possession until you arrive.
Call me when you arrive and I’ll arrange to get you into the room.

5:30 pm    Meet in lobby, carpool or cab to Argonaut Tavern, 1433 H Street Northeast
Sandwiches and entrees $8-$20.
Note: You are always allowed to opt out of activities with additional costs.

8pm     Roundheads and Peakheads: Catalyst Theatre at Atlas Arts, 1333 H St. NE

11 pm    Shuttle/Metro or carpool back to hotel.

Saturday, March 14
Morning and Lunch on your own

1pm     Meet in hotel lobby, metro (blue line) to Crystal City

2pm     A Delicate Balance at Arena Stage, Crystal City

5pm     Depart Arena, metro (Yellow Line) to Gallery Place/Chinatown.
Dinner/ exploring on your own until 7:30 pm.
Note: You may return to the hotel, and then return on your own, but this could be time consuming,
and you must meet the group at 7:30

7:30pm     Reconvene in front Lobby of The Shakespeare Theatre, 610 F Street, NW

8pm     Ion at The Shakespeare Theatre

11pm     Return via metro to hotel

Sunday, March 15
Beware the ides of March!

10:30 am     Meet in hotel lobby to check out.

2:30-3:30     Return to Morgantown

If anybody wants to come have brunch and/or hang out, PM me. We won't have a car available, and we don't know much about the area, but if somebody wants to come hang out at the hotel or something, that's totally cool. I think they have a pool!

:woohoo:

1. I had season tix to the Shakespeare Theatre when I lived in DC.
You're in for a real treat (and I see that Floyd King is in the cast of Ion--he's a delight to watch).

2. If you're going to have all-day Metro passes
you can go pretty much anywhere. I'd suggest picking a museum or two on Saturday morning and enjoying them. American History was just renovated, Natural History's cool as can be, Holocaust's sobering (to say the least). I was disappointed with the Native American museum, but I went shortly after it opened and it may have improved since then. Or wander down and spend your morning at the Lincoln Memorial. It really deserves a fair amount of time to be appreciated properly.

Wear comfy shoes.

I'm envious -- have fun!

3. I have no idea if we're going to have passes or not.
I'm also leery of doing too much walking beyond what we absolutely *have* to do, because I'm still going to be recovering (breathing-wise) from influenza, and I'm also asthmatic. If we had more spending money, I'd be fine with just taking a taxi somewhere, but alas, we're going to be on a pretty strict budget.

Still, I think we'll end up having a pretty good time. Wish you were going to be there! We'll take lots of pictures for you. :)

5. According to the directions, it's at 610 F Street, NW
Whatever that means.

6. Remember that DC was designed to be confusing
to invading armies.

And tourists.
