Vibes for LyricKid
He's thrown up more than ten times in the past two hours. He's got the stomach virus that's been going around his school.

I'm giving him teaspoons of homemade electrolyte solution (apple juice + water + pinch of salt) every 15 minutes, but he can't seem to keep it down. Here's hoping it lets up soon, as I am very sick myself (influenza) and sitting with him in a hard ER chair for ten hours is going to have me weeping in misery. :(

2. Many Many healing vibes to both you and LyricKid
The stomach virus is pure misery no matter what your age is, and influenza is right behind it. Hopefully he can keep fluids down soon. Apple juice and flat 7up together, in very small sips, was all I could keep down when I had the stomach bug. I'm hoping you both get better soon.

You'll be in my thoughts...

3. There is an over the counter anti-nausea medicine called Emetrol.
Maybe let about 30 minutes at least lapse before giving him liquids.

5. Vibes and a homespun tip...
Vibes. You got them, sick kids are the pits.

As for the vomiting, anything with ginger in it...gingersnaps, gingerbread, flat ginger ale, Jamaican ginger beer (it's made the same way as root beer and should not be confused with the similarly-named alcoholic substance), ginger tea. Ginger is a natural anti-emetic (meaning it prevents you from vomiting, it can cause a mild stomach-ache though in large quantities on an empty stomach) and will allow him to keep his cookies down long enough for you to get some fluids, electrolytes and maybe some toast or fruit into him.

6. We're trying the flat ginger ale thing.
Just a teaspoon at a time, room-temperature and totally flat, but he's still throwing up about every ten minutes or so.

The poor little guy. He's so tired that he's falling asleep on the loveseat with a big bowl on the floor beside him to catch it when he starts heaving. I really hope this lets up soon. He started getting sick around 9:30 pm, and he's already vomited fifteen times. :(

8. Vibes en route!
Is there a 24-hour nurse hotline you can call, maybe at WVU Hospital? They could advise you about not giving him anything to let his stomach rest, if he's not dehydrated, versus trying to keep fluids in him. Good luck and speedy recovery to you both.

10. It's now been 30 minutes since the last time he threw up.
He's asleep on the loveseat. I'm just going to let him keep sleeping, and hope that the worst is over.

Maybe the vibes really worked!

11. Update on LyricKid
He and Lyric are each getting some much-needed rest; I'm staying up with LyricKid to make sure he doesn't choke, or turn on his back and gag.

Thank you all for the continued good vibes! :grouphug:

The both seem to be doing better this morning. LyricKid is watching Wall-E and sipping some water (no more spew episodes in the last 3+ hours), and Lyric's fever hasn't returned since last night sometime.

Hopefully this tummy-bug will bypass the grown-ups; that's the last thing we need right now.
