Shameless vanity question: Eating too much sodium, and how long I'll retain water.
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 08:51 PM by Mike 03
Last night I ate what was for me an unusually large amount of sodium in the form of fish.

It is really gross. I feel bloated.

Today I basically fasted, and I'm trying to drink water and avoid salt. For the next few days I'm going to just stick with protein drinks. How many days until this water will get out of my system?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Some relatives are coming into town, and my parents want us to all get together. I'm a wreck, but I want to do it on their account. But I just feel awful right now, and I want to try to look my best.

Yes, men get vain too! LOL

1. Please see somebody about your hypochondria.
And to answer your question: until you pee.

2. Seriously, you need to get some help
I don't mean that in a snarky way, I mean that in a concerned way. You seem to have some disordered eating.

And to answer your question, what LeftyMom said.

4. +1
Drinking large amounts of water will help with bloating. The more water you drink, the more electrolytes you flush out of your system as it performs a natural diuretic effect.

3. Drinking water is good to "flush" out the sodium.
Not sure about the protein drinks though.... Going back to a high-fiber (fruits, veggies, grains), low-sodium diet just sounds more logical to me.

I'm not really familiar with the ingredients in protein drinks, but check out the ingredients anyhow.

Hope you feel better soon, Mike.

6. Most protein drinks have quite a bit of shit in them
It's healthier to just eat, well, healthy.

5. Lots of water Mike, with a little sliced lemon in it...
The sliced lemon is a natural diuretic. Good luck, Mike.
