Post your opinion; what did you like or hate about the film.

If you haven't seen it, here is a video clip of the post-film dance scene:

enjoy! :hi:

If you don't plan to see it, please explain why. :hi:

1. Kick, since there have been no posts in the (other) category
Personally, I just say it this evening for the first time.

It was a beautiful film, as good as I was lead to believe.

3. That's fair
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 09:14 PM by Xipe Totec
but I'm curious, what draws you to a film?

What makes you want to watch?

Not challenging; I'm just interested.

14. It's kind of hard to say.
Sometimes cast will draw me in, I'll see anything Johnny Depp is in. I like westerns, prison movies, mob movies, gang movies, war movies. But for all that I'm not a huge moviegoer, the last thing I saw in the theater was "300". I'd rather watch an old James Cagney flick than just about anything that has been out recently. I'm not explaining myself very well, I can't really give a definitive answer as I'm not sure myself. I can pretty much tell whether or not I'll like a movie from the previews but I'll also take recommendations. The most recent movie I've seen was "Gran Torino" and I liked it quite well. I've got a theater quality bootleg.

I just tivoed "No Country for Old Men" last night and I'll be watching it this week on recommendation from my brother.

5. I thought it was a bit brutal compared to standard feel-good films
The story has a happy ending, but only if we ignore Salim's death.

I liked how the story weaves the real and the surreal together.

6. It was highly overrated.
Entertaining but overrated. I don't think it deserved all those Oscars. It was a fluff piece.

11. I will wait to make my picks
until I've seen all the nominees. I will get back to you.

So far, I thought The Visitor, Frozen River and Vicky Cristina Barcelona were way better than Slumdog, but I have not seen everything yet.

12. I hear ya
on all those points. I didn't think it was terrible, it was entertaining enough, as a fluffy popcorn movie. But there was no substance at all to the movie, as well as all of the "flaws" you mentioned above.

16. Haven't and won't.
As a general rule, "Winner of Best Picture" is more likely to push me away from the idea of seeing a movie than it is to tempt me to see it. Out of the 45 movies that have won Best Picture in my lifetime, I like four.
