What other foods sound grosser than they are besides ''cobb salad''
Cobb salad sounds to me like a last use for the corn cob before it heads to the outhouse, or since it meant spit when I was a kid, it sounds like a group of slowly drooling extra thick loogie on someone all at once.

My brother told me about something he ate in Australia that sounded really gross: Bristol Bay bugs (or something like that) when I looked it up, it turns out we call it ''slipper lobster'' here, which is a lot more appetizing.

Any other contributions.

10. I've never had it
But even I know it ain't "rabbit", no matter how many people misspell it.

Actually it's cheese sauce over toast--doesn't sound bad at all.

Here's a recipe--I trust Alton implicitly: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/welsh-rarebit-recipe/index.html

28. You're a person after my own heart--
things that are eatable are yummy. I dig eels (as sushi, even), oysters (raw, even), kidney pie, chicken gizzards, blood puddings, escargot, and once ate a wild amount of herring as a toddler simply because grown-ups were watching--anything offbeat that I don't get at table everyday. I think kind of like a toddler, I think I know things better after I've put them in my mouth.

But I've never et hedgehog. Nor puffin. They are critters that are stuffed-animal cute, which is a bit of a barrier to my getting hold of them for the eating. If you have eaten hedgehog, you really must tell. Isn't it a small, bony little beastie? Is it difficult to skin?

And what does one do with what you have left over when you roast a sparrow? Not a lot, I'd guess.

have rabbit in it. I mean, these were New Englanders, who love lobster...which is just a big sea bug.

Turns out, Welsh rarebit is quite tasty. Who knew?!

33. Blood sausage
A woman made it on one of the Gordon Ramsey cooking shows the other day. :puke: It is made with chunks of fat and blood in a bit of intestine (sausage casing). And then to make sure that Gordon was grossed out, she took fresh blood and made a blood pancake. That has got to be one of the nastiest things I have ever seen in my life.

62. British food improved markedly between the 1960s and the 2000's
When I was there in 1967, I thought that everything except breakfast was intolerable.

Returning for the first time in 2006, I was delighted to find the food quite (sometimes downright delicious). Yes, the Indian restaurants are fantastic, but so is the food in many pubs, and I developed a real fondness for Scotch eggs, Cornish pasties, and bacon butties.

The only bad food I had was when I mixed up my train routes, forgot to transfer, and ended up stuck waiting for the train to backtrack on for two hours. The only place to eat within walking distance of the train station was a Tesco, and their cafeteria served up the stereotypical greasy meat and potatoes with mushy peas.

Otherwise, I sought out pub grub and encountered many homemade soups, homemade breads, and local cheeses.
