Wow, Key West
What an incredibly cool place. But why all the chickens everywhere?

1. Why all the chickens?
My guess: probably because there are very few native predators such as coyotes and raccoons.

Yeah, there are cats and dogs, but the chickens probably don't get hammered as much by them as they do by animals that need prey to survive.

2. I liked watching them strut around the streets
But I wasn't a huge fan of the rooster that began crowing at 4:00 a.m. and didn't stop until around noon.

Good point about the predators, I didn't even think of that.

3. Mallory Dock and applauding the sunset.
The Cookie Lady and the Pussy Man.
And the piper.
You MUST pay the piper.
Are they still there?

4. I don't know
They might be but I didn't see them. I liked being able to drink beer on the street and taking it into shops; I swear I got drunk on shopping, the prices were so good.

8. So Jealous!!!
I went in 2007. We stayed at Big Ruby's right off of Duval.

We never did the Mallory Square thing- it just looked too touristy to me. We just found a quiet place in the park nearby to watch.

14. Don't know
We went there 5 years ago and we still talk about it

corner table at Alonzo's having Mojito's and the local place across the big parking lot from the Conch Republic bar.

LOVE Key West

We stayed in the actual room that "Robert the doll" supposedly haunted (top porch and turret here)

One night there was another ghost tour across the street. My wife and I were having drinks on the porch and I excused myself. There were teddy bears all over the room for some reason so I grabbed one and went up to the top room (the turret), the light was on. I took one of the teddy bears and held it up in the windows (shades were drawn) and proceeded to make it dance around as if it was "Robert". My wife was watching the people on the tour start cracking up laughing-the tour guides back was turned to the house. She thought "Why are they laughing?". Next thing I knew she came inside and yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING??"

:bounce:

We never did see the ghost that supposedly appears on the staircase

I enjoyed the time I spent in Key West. Got to meet Cary Grant and Tony Curtis while they were filming Operation Petticoat.
