I watched the movie "W" yesterday (possible spoilers) discuss
I found myself after watching it with less hatred of him as a person, more outrage that someone so incompetent rose to the top, and angry at the puppeteers that ran him.

Whether true or not, he seemed to be trying to prove something to his father all his life and the father GWHB favored Jeb.

It alluded to the possibility that while Shrub had his own reasons for wanting to go to Iraq, that he sought his experts to build a case for WMD's and they convinced him they were there and of course they weren't.

All in all it was an interesting movie that doesn't take away from his being the worst president in history, just alludes to the probability that the reality is that he was in fact a puppet of the far right, albeit a willing puppet, but one that was willing for a multitude of reasons, some having to do with his constant wanting his father's approval.

Anyone else seen the movie? Different takes on it? Impressions of it?

I thought Josh Brolin did an okay job.

1. I liked it
Mainly thought Geoffry Wright was great as Colin Powell.

I think some people around here didn't care for it because it didn't show them all running around in devil costumes for two hours. Just as I'm sure conservatives hated it because it showed plenty of blemishes on the record. I agree that the real outrage about Dumbya is he clearly wasn't a bright guy, just a charming clod, and if it wasn't for the fact that it was all real, you'd never believe the idiot could be president.

2. that's true
how an average IQ guy with charm and ignorance combined became president is probably not fairly. However he had some merits, and many flaws, and the evil ones were those that knew the flaws and exploited them. His participation cannot be excluded from that evil. I thought they portrayed Cheney as a fairly evil soul, and Rumsfield as an out of touch war profiteer who was probably senile. I thought the woman who played Condi was convincingly ignorant and Condi-like. Geoffry Wright did play a good Colin Powell and it showed how he didn't quite have the guts to stand up to the crowd, whether it was his military background, or peer pressure, or if he was actually convinced that there were in fact some WMD's there, dunno.
