Limbaugh and Palin as their candidates in the next Presidential election.

That is my prediction.

11. And when they are defeated, would that be "breaking wind"?

4. Petreaus/Palin

Or one of these guys Stanford/Romeny/Jindal, but as sure as I am sitting here, Palin will be on that ticket. I guess to counterbalance such a strong conservative, they will moderate it out, maybe with a guy like Giuliani.Their problem is that their side of the crazy vote won't vote for a non die hard conservative at the top of the ticket after McCain, but they will lose moderate republicans that they need just as much if the ticket has a non representative figure like Palin at the top. I have always wondered how major political parties die, I think it could happen to the GOP, they don't win minorities, they lose the demographics battle, the party is aging, and they have no idea how to effectively organize. In short, they ran out of angry white guys.

5. Limbaugh would NEVER expose himself to that much accountability
...not to mention engage in even partially-uncontrolled debate.

He knows it's muuch safer (and profitable) to lob grenades from the stands.

6. I think the tragic flaw may be
his Ego.

he really thinks he is in charge of the repuglicon party right now.

7. I think he'd like to be president
but I agree with you that he's too comfortable now put himself through all the glad-handing and scrutiny.

However, the 2004 election really rocked my confidence in this country's electorate. Despite any election shenanigans, there's still 50-60 million American dumbasses that voted to RE-elect W, and, at that time, a NewsWeek poll showed 49% of Americans thought Saddam caused 9/11. These people will believe anything. Their ignorance and gullibility can't be underestimated. It's unlikely Joe the Plumber will be president, but I can't dismiss it as utterly impossible. I hate being such a cynic, but I feel I have no other option.

Give up a $400 million contract to fling shit from Florida, to do real work, with real-world policy, with real accountability? Never in a million years.

As it's developing now, he gets all the trappings of power (ooo, head of the GOP!) without any of the downside risk. Nivana for the fat man.

But I thought the same thing in 2000.

15. That would make a Democratic victory

in 2012 a sure bet.

They would be helping us, just like Palin did
this last election.

16. Huckabee/Palin
The Old Testament Christians take over the Repugs unless the more moderate or traditional conservatives throw the Christian right out on their asses.

Jindal and Joe the Fake Plumber are jokes.

Rush wouldn't dare -- his college years and those trips to the Caribbean with someone else's Viagra and his own Oxycontin problem would be investigated.

18. I doubt that Limbaugh will still be alive by then.
Anyway, it's going to be Romney/Pawlenty. The GOP wants to win, and they will have a serious ticket.
