Pot Legilization

I may be guilty of conformation bias, but it really seems we have been hearing a lot about legalizing drugs. I am just Tin Foil Hatting here, but is it possible that President Obama sees this as an effective way to curtail the Cartels money and influence, so he is laying the ground work to legalize and tax it?

1. He a smart guy, and there is no other logical choice in action....

if that were his goal. It:

A. Partially pulls the rug out from cartel/smuggling organization finacially, lessening their clout.
B. Brings in a much-needed financial stream to the US.
C. Cuts enforcement/admin/trial/incarceration costs for us as well.
D. Paves the way for further decrim/harm reduction and the same benefits associated with them.

Godspeed, Mr. Obama, if this is your intent!

3. It depends

I suspect the government already takes in money on the drug trade, so I don't know whether it would help or not...not that I have proof, just a feeling. There's big money in drugs, and I just can't imagine the government not being involved and getting their cut 'under the table' so to speak.
