Warning: I'm going to brag about my kid
Today my 5 YO kindergartener had a splashy certificate in his backpack. It said he was being lauded for "friendship". Signed by the principal and everything! Woo. I asked him what he got it for, and he said he didn't know. :eyes:

Note: He does this a lot--hedging about his day. Our post-schoolday conversations usually go like this:
Mama: How was your day?
MG Jr.: Good.
Mama: What did you do today?
MG Jr.: Stuff. Can I have some squishy Oreos? Our snack was gummies and I didn't like them.

Yeah, a half-size teenager, this one.

Anyway, while he was having his bath tonight, he recounted what happened during their "seat work" time--all the kids at one table were making fun of one of the girls in the class. Apparently my son told them to stop a couple of times. When they didn't, he resorted to telling the teacher, and she finally stepped in. I asked him if that might be why he got his certificate, and he just said "Maybe." He didn't think it was any big deal to do that.

My little hero. :loveya:

1. That's a great story MorningGlow!
I have always taught my kids to do exactly what your son has done. It sounds like he's on his way to being a fine young man, and leader. Congratulations to him for his actions and to you for your parenting.

3. Aw, thanks, Blues!
He's a good kid. He acts shy most of the time, and then he goes and does something like this. Makes a mama proud. :)

14. ROFL well might you ask
They now make soft Oreos--two devil's food cake-type things with white stuff in between. Packaged in pairs. Too sweet for my taste, but of course perfect for a 5 YO's palate.

24. lucky kid...
i did that when i was a kid in first grade and got labeled a tattletale by the teacher... go figure...

i smell a future victim's rights lawyer here... or a kid that wants to be a fireman when he grows up. either way, the world needs more of what he eventually becomes.
