Drank 'Caucasians' while watching "The Big Lebowski" tonight
A friend of mine nicknamed me Walter, because I look and sound like John Goodman's character. I also get shushed by waitresses just like he does in the movie. :-)

Love the Coen brothers, and this movie. I am a fan of Jimmie Dale Gilmore too, who has a cameo as Smokey, the guy who Walter pulled a gun on. (The similarity ends there, I hate guns, lol).

1. Is a White Russian a Caucasian?
Never heard of that drink.

Sounds good, and what do you think of Miller's Crossing?;)

2. yes, same as a White Russian
He uses both terms in the movie, lol. It's coffee-flavored, so I love 'em.

I loved Miller's Crossing. They get the details down pat in their movies.

The only one by them I haven't seen yet is "Intolerable Cruelty", and the only disappointing one was "The Hudsucker Proxy", which they admitted was not to their liking either. But the effort counts.

3. Big Lebowski is one of their funniest movies
It's way overproduced IMO, but hilarious.

"Careful man there's a beverage here".

I love Coen brothers' movies. Love White Russians too :-)

14. But the whole overproduced Busby Berkeley Musical Number
thing is priceless, esp. "What Condition My Condition Was In" with the whole Valkyrie Bowling getups, Saddam as the bowling shoe guy...

18. lol, Susan!
I didn't get drunk, just enough to get into the groove (I am a geek who will match drinks with movies - like drinking Capt. Morgan's while watching "Pirates of the Caribbean").

I am quite sure I have never posted drunk on DU, and if I had, it never occurred to me to proclaim it. I mentioned the drink only because of my movie/drink match quirk. :-)

21. You're not that much of a geek
Or if you are, then I am too, 'cause I match my cocktails to fit the entertainment all the time! Rum for Pirates of the Carribean, Champagne and/or Vodka for AbFab, white russians for Lebowski, etc. I call it good menu planning! :-)

15. thank you!
I saw "200 Motels" at a midnight show once, back in the 80's. If I was in your thoughts because of that movie... It's beyond description! :D

Glad you like JDG too. :loveya:

16. My 20 year old nephew saw that movie...
...visited me a couple of days later with a bottle of vodka, a bottle of Kahlua, a pint of cream and a dream.

After a few hours he launched a spectacular display of projectile vomiting off my porch.

The moral? Don't emulate cool characters in movies until you're old enough to pull it off.

19. Yeah, he's pretty much the anti-dude.
I tried to stop him, but remember when you were twenty and got an idea stuck in your head? Nothing could've pulled him off the tracks once he became convinced he was cooler than the train.

It was one of those "stand in the corner and chuckle knowingly" moments for me. I love those...
