Just bought a Sirius
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 06:57 AM by ikojo
radio outfit yesterday. I was hoping to be able to listen to Radio Left on channel 145 on the Sirius network while at work, but, alas I am too far from the nearest window (I sit in a cubicle). So, guess I'll listen to Mike Malloy when I get home. I so wanted to listen to the talk shows during the day. Had it worked out I would also be able to listen to CSPAN as well as the Jam band channel that actually plays Phish and Grateful Dead (they get very little play on the corporate radio stations here in the Lou)

;(

I have no sound card in my work computer so I cannot listen to streaming audio at work. Guess they don't want me having contact w/the outside world while at work. Curse them! :evilfrown:

Any help out there in DU land?

2. I do like having it at home
though. Of course it's brand new and I enjoyed going through all the channels last night.

I don't watch much TV so I listen to a lot of radio.

4. I've thought of purchasing
a sound card and installing it but wondered what would happened if I opened the case? I don't want to get into trouble w/the IT department and more importantly I don't want to incur the wrath of my supervisor and manager. If you have seen the Phantom Menace then you know of the Sith Lords...as Yoda says...

There are always two,
a Master and an Apprentice...

Well I work for both of them.

5. XM radio uses terrestrial repeaters
in areas where there are a lot of tall buildings, etc., so that you can still get signal even when you don't have clear line-of-sight to the satellites. I'm sitting here with headphones on at work, in the middle of a concrete and steel building, listening to my XM. If I check the signal strength meter, I'm getting 100% from terrestrial here; if they didn't have repeaters, I wouldn't get my music at work.

XM has a device, the XMPCR, that is meant to attach directly to your computer's sound card (it's only $69, too). It doesn't even need an Internet connection.

I LOVE my XM!!!
