Poll question: What name would you choose to rename our kitty?
Background info here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=8532119&mesg_id=8532119

We want to keep his name as close to Zelda as possible, to avoid confusion for him. My son likes Zeldy, but I thought we could present him with some other options...

1. I'd just leave it Zelda
If my mom can have a boy cat named "Cuddles," Zelda is nothing.

to Zelduh. So it reflects on us, not him. :D

11. and most cat people give their kitties multiple names..and the cats know them all
Starvin' Marvin is also:

babykitty
where's-my-baby-boy
babyboy
marvie
marvinator

and Sarah (the world's neediest cat) comes to ALL the other cat's names..and she's the fastest, so she gets there FIRST...

14. That's true...
Usually when I call them, I call them by their given names, though. It's when they're sitting in my lap that I gush their nicknames.

15. I have several names for Cali also
Actually Cali is a nickname, his real name is California (I didn't name him), so there's

Cali
Cal
Cali Bo Bali
Cali Baba and the 40 fleas
Baba
Baa
Buddy

and yet the only time he runs to me when I call him is if I'm standing by his dish.

16. Marvin comes running whenever I even whisper one of his names..
He can be MIA, and all I have to do is call him, and he comes running..even when I don't "want" him.. He's my babyboy..and he's a Momma's boy :) He's from my first bottle-fed litter and he's only known me as mom:)

The cat don't know.
Not only that, he don't care.
You can name him Lollybeth Prissyfrock and it won't matter a whit to him.
He'll ignore you anyway.

31. Zelda is fine.
I had a girl cat named Simon years ago. Not Simone...Simon. She was a great cat and didn't seem to have any kind of lasting damage from having a name normally associated with boys.

35. Isn't it odd that we view it perfectly acceptable
for a girl to be named Ashley or Charlie, but the thought of a guy named Belinda or Carmen would make people cringe.

Same thing with clothes...

36. Zavulon.
Actually, just go with "Cat." Your kitty won't obey commands or come when you call, so "Cat" should be good enough.

You can tell people it's short for Catherine. :)

My sig line is a quote from him in Night Watch, as he refers to the movie's main character:
