it's flatter and fatter. The outside breading stuff is also much more prone for crisping.

21. Damn, you stole my post
Crispy Crowns kick ass.

Tater tots have this funny, vaguely plastic-y taste to them.

Fries are better...especially thin, soggy ones.

14. They're the best
I'm not a big fan of McDonald's but their fries are great. I try to pick out the soft ones and leave the crispy ones for other people.

20. Onion Rings...
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 11:50 PM by Chan790
I have the best recipe for onion rings. Actually I prefer to cut them to tiny thin strings of onion so they all knot together in the fryer like spaghetti.

First, you dip them milk or mimic-creme (for the vegan crew), then you dredge them in a dry-coating of Bisquick (Yes, Bisquick is vegan. Shocking, I know. I thought for years it contained condensed powdered buttermilk but it does not.) mixed with sea-salt and cracked black pepper to suit your taste.

Deep fry.

Eat.

23. okay, I'm copying that.
:D

The little M.E. cafe I go to for falafel has the best thick onions rings I've ever had. I believe they use a hard-wheat flour, like semolina, but I don't know if it's vegan. It's very thin and crispy and not dripping with fat like too many other soft-wheat flour batters.

I don't know if you've tried coconut oil, but you might as it has health benefits and the highest smoke point of any other oil :)

26. It's definitely French Fries for me, although I do enjoy Tater Tots
However, while I have paid for fries countless times, I just have this weird hangup about paying for tater tots prepared by anyone else. And have never done so. Yeah. It makes no sense.

Fries:
wash potatoes
pat dry
do not peel
cut into 1/4" wedges
cook in medium oil
finish on medium high
drain
add kosher salt
enjoy

Tater Tots:
open bag
follow directions
enjoy
