I'm mad at Taco Bell.
I know, I know... it's on The DUer's Boycott ListTM...but very few of us are perfect.

Went there the other night for a chili-cheese burrito. That's just about the only reason I go there...sometimes their chili-cheese burrito (I ask them to put onions in it) is just azackly what you want...taste, texture, and size-wise. Two make a meal (for less than $3) that'll keep ya going for a few more hours...and besides, my cats like the filling too, so I can share it with them.
I'm owned, what can I say.

Well, it seems THEY NO LONGER ARE CARRYING THE CHILI-CHEESE BURRITO.
They'd put an older, extremely charming and personable guy on the drive-up window and I think it was precisely because of this...he was there to act as a 'defuser' for all the people who were all
:grr: "WHAT!? NO MORE CHILI-CHEESE BURRITOS? That's it, I'm going to Taco John's from now on!"

He did make a 'suggestion' and gave me a number and website where I could not only rate the service (and enter a contest to win $1000! :eyes: like that's gonna happen) but I could also let the higher order food chain know that this particular decision doesn't sit well with the masses...
nor does the double twist, or whatever they're calling the burrito that is HALF-FULL OF RICE.
:wtf:

Don't get me wrong...I like rice...but not the white, over-processed, nutrition-free kind, and especially NOT IN MY DAMN BURRITO!

Thanks. I feel better now.

3. There's a Boycott List?
I feel for ya, pal. There's nothing worse than having your mouth set for something you really love and then ....... well, Taco Bell sucks.

I'm not familiar with Taco Bell, but does their menu have anything that works for you maybe a little bit like the Chili-Cheese Burrito?

I'm going to be mad at them with you. DU solidarity, and all that.

5. I found that out also
you know what's worse?

they discontinued serving it before they took it off their registers. :wtf:

so i had no problem ordering it, but later they told me they didn't make them anymore, so i asked what item was like it, they said the rice meat thing burrito, so i said "fine" (it's not bad actually).

anyway, later i noticed i paid 1.49 or 1.69 or something for the chili cheese burrito, the rice thing they gave me was like 79 cents.

9. We ate at Taco Bueno when we were in Dallas over Christmas.
Their taco meat and refried beans are far, far superior to Taco Bell's.

I've GOT to convince the boy that we need to move, just for the food. :7

10. Yes! and the friends!
I am addicted to their cheesecake chimichangas...and I don't even like cheesecake.

It would be so cool if you moved back.

14. OMG, I didn't even see those on the menu!
The cost of living savings sure would be nice, plus I miss Dallas, and I miss my family (and friends!) in Texas.

15. CHILI-CHEESE BURRITOS were the best
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 11:50 PM by blue_onyx
They stopped making them a while ago (at least around here they did). It's still listed on Taco Bell's website but I haven't seen it on the restaurant menu in quite some time. That sounds good right now too. You're not alone...there's even a website (I kid you not) dedicated to the chili cheese burrito, lol.

16. when i worked
at taco bell, many moons ago...

i got in a lot of trouble for modifying the chili cheese burrito chili by added more meat then i was supposed to and onions. i know the whole portioning/food cost argument which i think, for taco bell at least, is complete crap. given the low quality of ingrediants we worked with....

oddly enough, not a single customer complaint.

18. We still have a few Zantigos
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 12:23 AM by FKA MNChimpH8R
here in the Twin Cities. Their chilitos are the real deal, just like they were back in the 1970s. They put them in a little sandwich press and grill them for a few seconds to thoroughly melt the cheese and crisp up the tortilla just enough. You never get those horrible, yucky steamed tortillas that TB wrapped around its faux chilitos. Had three of 'em for dinner Monday night at the Bloomington Zantigo. With green chili and extra cheese. Yum!

21. it's one the "menu"
but local stores have a bit of leeway in what they serve. outside of the mandated promo items, they can offer whatever they want on their menus. even if something is taken "off the menu" if they still have ingredients, they can still make it. the taco bell i worked at would alternate having the cheesy gordita crunch "on" the menu every 4 months. four on, four off... but that didn't stop us from serving them.

it occurs to me i know far too much about taco bell...
