3. I love it here! It's like London with good weather and non-snobby people!
I'm staying in Glebe, which kinda resembles Valencia in San Francisco or SouthEast in Portland. Very eclectic neighbourhood. It rained yesterday, but looks like it's clearing up a bit today. Hope so! I want some summer.

5. Don't flame me! I'm a wine drinker
I have to be--half my friends and family live in the Sonoma Valley. But no worries, the wine here is pretty awesome. Great pub culture, just like in England, only you aren't freezing your parts off if you sit outside to drink.

6. It's a little rainy, but it's summer so it's not cold.
This is a great part of the world! Very ethnically diverse too, so lots of cheap restaurants. Everything a low-rent epicurean such as myself could ever want.

Also, the dairy products here are freakin amazing! There's gelatto that tastes as good as it does in Italy (and I never thought I'd see that happen!).

Heading for the wildlife park today to hang out with a few marsupials and especially interested in the aviary. Australia has the coolest birds on the planet, IMO.

17. That's because you've missed the worst of it
A few weeks ago the heat was absolutely staggering in Sydney and there was the imminent threat of bushfires (although it wouldn't have affected Glebe in all likelihood because it is inner city Sydney)

19. That was over a year ago now
November 24 2007 to be exact

Australia's probably more progressive than the US but it would probably be considered quite conservative in comparison to some of the European countries. We still have a long way to go in terms of our treatment of indigenous Australians for instance

Our new Prime Minister is great and still very popular too.

22. Yeah, Kevin Rudd is the PM now
He's the famous one picking his earwax on YOUTUBE. But the coolest is that he put the big bald guy from Midnight Oil in his cabinet to be environmental minister. Can't remember if he's still there, tho.

This is my first international trip since the election, and what a diff! So nice not to have to pretend to be Canadian anymore!
