5. he died 8 years ago today
I'll never get over him.He wasn't a pet..he was my best friend.

I got him when he was about 14 weeks old...a friend had him and was warned the game warden was coming for him so he was my x-mas present.

He was amazing.People think wolves are dangerous and have NO IDEA.He would sit with a piece of steak on his nose and not move till told.He would be told to lay if the neighbors kids came over and they could lay on his stomach and watch movies using him as a pillow. He Would guard the whole neighborhood as he could.

I once got mad at him and told him to stay upstairs...he stayed at the top of the stairs waiting for like 5 hours without moving.

He had a stroke and couldn't walk. For a month I carried him out to pee and poop and help him up so he could eat.......He never recovered.

He used to hang in the office at my shop...when I put him down half the shop was there with him.

Sorry for rambling...I just miss him SO MUCH

It's been 4 years almost. He woke me up about 3 AM and wanted a scritching. I went back to sleep after that and when I got up at 7 he was dead, laying on the floor next to my bed. R.I.P. BB The Moosedog.

But if he got near water he was all lab. That's him surfing at Port Aransas. I was surf fishing out at the second sandbar cut and he was swimming around me. when it was time to leave I had to drag him away from the water. He didn't want to leave.

wish every dog could be as lucky as to have an owner like you.

I hate abuse so much

On a somewhat happy note...ant DU'ers in the SW Virginia area who need dog work..PAWS is awesome.I Take them some food as I can...please donate to PAWS or any local shelter.

My shelter dropped my baby when it came time and they were great about it.Half my shop was there...there were literally like 20 people there petting him while they injected him.

Support your shelters.

14. I'm sorry; good friends of mine also had a large white wolf...
he came to them secondhand, after growing up in someone's apartment dining room. My friends had two malamutes and a huge yard. The wolf settled in just fine; he was a magnificent creature. I didn't meet him until he was quite old, and he was a gentle and peaceful and soulful creature. He only bit once, it was his owner, and she accepted that it was her fault: the wolf was quite old and hard of hearing and there was a black bear in the yard. My friend (who knew the bear was out there) startled him - was foolish of her to bend down near the face of a wolf to kiss him goodnight when he was watching a bear in his yard.

Anyway, she got stitched up and got plastic surgery, and the wolf lived another few years. She said he apologized to her in so many ways... and they're good people, not the kind of people to punish a creature for acting on instinct.

Anyway, gave you a heart. I'm sorry you're hurting. My beloved cat is probably going to the great beyond this weekend, and the pain in intense. I think I understand.

You were lucky to have him, so rare. I am so sorry for your loss.

I completely understand what you're going through. I lost my beloved hearing/signal assistance dog a year/two months ago. She was only 6 and could read over 100 words in sign language. Her "trusted" vet gave her a combination of two drugs that I learned later was a deadly combination...Dexamethasone and Rimadyl on same day which is a big NO NO. I took her in for her shoulder limp and she was gone two days later. I was devastated, couldn't talk to anyone, not even post here for nearly one year. Her name was Shane. She was a Rottie and German Shepherd mix. So sweet, so smart. She was my partner, my best friend..went everywhere with me. I still cry for her to this day, don't think I will get over her. I have filed a compliant against this vet 3 months ago so it will take a while before I know the outcome.

Here's pix of me and Shane.

Here's Shane wearing her orange service dog jacket

33. She loved horses and cats and other animals..even birds!
Shane was amazing. For some reason horses seemed to like her. They'd come to her. My cats would lay close to her even slept with her. They looked up to her as if she was their leader, their protector.

I still think it's so amazing that you had a majestic animal like a white wolf..truly amazing and so rare. I had always wanted a pure wolf, but learned that they don't make a good pet. You were truly blessed to have one in your life that was your best friend. I know you will always miss him. I wish I had met him and gave him a big hug.

I have a statue standing outside. It's Native American woman with 4 wolves.

Here's a big hug for you

45. Via internet
Anyway, when my current dog named Shania, a purebred beauceron, was in heat last November. She's training to be my next assistance dog .. hearing/signal. Anyway, Rocky, the dog I got from rescue group, went out on the deck, was growing with teeth showing so I ran and grabbed my flashlight to see what was going on there. To my surprise, there's an animal looking like wolf coming up on stairs to deck because Shania was in heat. He ran off. I watched him running...stunned. He looked like Arctic wolf, was nearly white in color. He was BIG, running with brushy tail straight..running up the hill. I did a research over the internet. No wolves in Arkansas since they were all killed off (yeah...stupid stupid humans!) Native wolves of Arkansas were Red Wolves, small. The one I saw was white and large. Found that there were several Arctic wolf puppies taken away from someone here to a rescue wildlife guy so maybe one of them was loose.

I have seen foxes and coyotes around here. This animal is unlikely them. It looked so much like a wolf. Tried to get to Shania! It's possible that this animal was a mixed of fox and dog or coyote and dog, but I highly doubt it because it looked so perfect..like a wolf!

46. Yes, she was a Westie
We were inseparable and with my kids now out of the nest, they tease me about spoiling the furbabies more than I ever did them (hey, I breastfed them for a year, so they're special in their own way :P).

I know a new dog will help when I'm ready and will definitely go the rescue route. Already looked at the local shelter's website in a fit of masochism and it's a heartbreaker.

It's so sad to lose them, but you were lucky to have shared part of your life with such a special being. Not everyone can accomodate a wolf as a pet, so you've had a unique experience with an animal who probably wouldn't trust just anyone. Doesn't make it any easier to lose them, of course. :/

I know. It hurts so much. I still mourn sometimes for my "sister," the German Shepherd my folks had when I was little. They got her as a puppy when I was three years old and we grew up together. She died when I was in junior high (nearly, er, 25 years ago), and my dad and I buried her together in the yard and didn't speak the whole day, just wept. She looked a little bit like your woofie, only pure black instead of pure white.

Where are you in SW VA? My folks are still in Carroll County - they have Bull Mastiffs now. They just got a puppy a few months ago--she's like a toddler. An 80-pound toddler with big teeth, that is.

I just found out yesterday that corgi dog does have cancer. However it's only stage one , so that is going to buy us around 2 years and with that I'm grateful we caught it early. I'm already fearful of losing her, but we bring them into our homes and hearts aware that they will probably be with us for too short a time. We should all feel lucky to be loved by any furry friend.
