TT -- and other Texas DUers -- have noticed things about the way Bush talks.

He's speaking "Hollywood Cowpoke", as learned from all those TV westerns he saw in his misspent youth. Timothy Bottoms, who studied Bush's accent in order to portray him, said that it was a funny one -- which Bush consciously alters depending on which crowd he's talking to. (And professional actors receive coaching in dialects, so Bottoms would know what an "off the shelf" West Texas accent is like ... after all, he shot two movies in that part of the state.) Watch Bush next time he's tired or angry -- normally this tends to bring out a person's "real" manner of speaking -- but Bush just slurs his words like "a mouthful of marbles" (as another professional impersonator, Brent Mendenhall, commented).
