14. I have mixed feelings about it. I realize she was singled out, and the

BIGGER crooks get away with FAR WORSE. But I would instead like to see more aggressive action against ALL of them instead of lowering the standards and letting the lesser of the crooks get away with stock fraud because their crimes were not as bad as the big crooks.

She still benefitted from insider trading, lied about it, and altared records to cover it up, and that pisses me off.

A million dollar fine for Martha is nothing. That's what she spends maintaining her gardens every year (probably). But jail for her? That's beyond a wake-up call, or an ass-kicking. That's flat-out inconceivable in the world she currently inhabits. The irony is that she ended up paying so much to save so little. She stood to save, what, $60,000 by selling with insider info? "Getting busted? That's for the little people," she probably thought.

She lost a ton of money and had to step down as CEO from her company. I dont know what justice is but she is certainly getting a taste of true irony.

I don't want her to go to jail. I made her lemon scones once and they were really good! But one time, she and this white guy made green chili on her show and they made it all wrong, and it looked AWFUL!

she was convicted, if she goes to jail, that's the way it is.

Now, she has the right to appeal, and she should use that to the best of her ability. If the convictions are overturned, that's the system we all go through. But just because she has more money that the rest of us, should not get her any leniency.

Then you have the serious situation of setting a precedent for those who have done far worse.

Just because someone has a pile of cash, should not change anyones notion of justice. If you believe she is innocent, that is different, but she was found guilty by a jury. Let her go through the system, all of us would have to, and she should be treated like anyone else.

I compare her to the poor criminals that get major jail sentences because they steal or commit other crimes just to survive

Martha's crimes were just pure greed

Hers was a victimless crime, just like Clinton's. That's MY measure of whether someone deserves jail time. Remember that saying about "the law is an ass"!

I never was a Martha fan, since I'm fairly clueless about gracious living even as I like to do crafts and try new recipes. And it may be true that she's arrogant and made cutting remarks to some of her staff.

On the other hand, there's no doubt she was targeted. Not only because she was a celebrity and a (relatively) powerful woman, but even more, because she supported Democrats.

For these reasons, we need to support her now!

Can't do much to influence the appeals court, but we can vote with our dollars.

I'm going out to KMart and buy Martha Stewart brand for the household items I need. Hope others who feel likewise will do the same!
