Have you ever seen a crackhead order breakfast at a fast food place?
Well I just did.

I was running late anyway, today's reason was that one of our cats has discovered how to open the drawers in my dresser. It is a engineering feat consisting of locking her claws into the top of the drawer, jumping up with both feet onto the trim work, and then leaning back ala someone reeling in a marlin. So I fish her out....

Long lines in the drive thru at Hardee's so I park and go inside (it is often much quicker). There is one guy in line, outstanding....and then the ordering starts. This guy is straight out of central casting no doubt a crackhead. He orders a platter (hey at least the guy is eating) and this and that oh no I don't want three orange juices I only wanted two...but sir you ordered the platter and that comes with...how much is an OJ?....$.65 (or something)...okay then let me have two...two more?.....oh and a sausage biscuit...you already ordered one you want two.....OJs?.....

At this point I was close to buying his breakfast for him but it looked to be over...at least the ordering part.

Can you put more hash browns in there?

Then comes time for payment....out come the nickels and dimes....lots of them all over the place.....

10 minutes later I get my breakfast and I am OUT OF THERE!!!!!!

5. Yep that's the one
Famous for the "Oh we don't have any chicken" or "It will take about 15 minutes"

My wife loves Hardee's fried Chicken and about once a month I'll go get a bucket for dinner. I don't know why I still go there. The McD's near there was packed so I swung over to the Hardee's.

Yes very interesting people.

6. you may be seeing many doing the nickels, dimes, and pennies routine
as well as having to pre-tally what they can afford to order-- this is Bush's economic "recovery," after all. Just a gentle reminder....

7. Are you sure it was a crackhead........
or was it just your garden variety Republican? Sometimes it's impossible to tell the difference.

8. That crackhead is someone's brother, son, uncle, father even... addiction
is a disease, it isn't something to mock or ridicule.

It might have put a crimp in your day, but imagine how he feels, because he knows precisely who he is, whether you remind him or not.

He's a man who someone loved, whom he's let down. He can't get a handle on his disease. Maybe he was a harvard grad, or in medical school. Maybe his mom is a politician or a lawyer, or in state assembly. Things aren't always what they appear.

Sometimes a little compassion is more appropriate than ridicule, when it comes to diseases and how they're so crippling.

People don't choose to be addicts for fun and excitement.

9. You don't have to tell me
I am dealing with addiction in my family right now.

Look I know it is really all that nice but "crackhead" is punchline in and of itself to many.

Oh by the way I happened to work indirectly with crackheads everyday.
