Woman drives car into lake in film (Passion of the Christ) re-enactment

Ananova, UK - Mar 4, 2004

Woman drives car into lake in film re-enactment

A woman who drove her car into a lake, told police she was re-enacting a scene from Mel Gibson's film, The Passion of The Christ.

The married woman in her 40s drove the front of her car in the lake in the A.W. Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain.

She was taken to hospital, but apparently escaped injury, police said. A spokesman said no charges will be filed.

Although police couldn't say which specific scene motivated the woman, they believe she was attempting to be baptised, says the New Britain Herald.

4. That must be the part
Where a Birkenstock shod Jesus, gassed on converted river water, mashes the accelerator and hurtles his Volvo with the save-the-whales bumper sticker into the Mediterranean.

He spin meisters doctored it up into a story about him walking on water.

5. Well, that's New Britain for you....
Right down the street from Stanley Quarter Park is the church that picketed us at the Hole in the Wall Theater when we did Corpus Christe. She was probably on her way home from the church!

6. What Would Jesus Drive?
I'm guessing a Toyota Camry.

7. Oh no.....
Did she lose the Priest along the way? Or did she not realize she might have needed one?

Religious fervor and mental instability are a worrisome pairing. Hope the hospital evaluated her.
