is noise music?
i'm talking about the genre noise of course, not just noise in general. stuff such as Merzbow, Wolf Eyes, Air Conditioning, Sissy Spacek, Sightings, Smegma, Godheadsilo, ect.

A lot of my friends argue that it's not really music but more like "audio art", the same way bizzare art films that make no sense can't be considered real movies.

1. Art (and in this case, music) is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder
And my ears say no. It's up to the listener.

4. No. But it's subjective. I prefer to err on the side of silence.

5. I would say no as music has form and order.
Even when a different scale is used it has order and form, even when it sounds odd to us. Ex. Indian music.Which I like but not the same scales used.

6. Absolutely
Indeed it is. "art" either exists, or doesn't. The form doesn't matter. Check Andy Warhall, Jackson Polloc, etc. Some would say "that's not art, its a fucking soup can" or "that's not art, its splashes of paint"

Somebody's always saying something's not art....because they don't understand or appreciate it.
