Chilliwack
Thanks to the Rhapsody music service I just signed up for, I am re-listening to an album that was an obession of mine almost 24 years ago - Chilliwack's "So You Wanna Be a Star".

If you're familiar with this Canadian group at all, it is due to their biggest hit "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)". But this whole album was fantasic. Yes, it was just early 80's pop/rock, but it was DAMN GOOD early 80's pop/rock. Plus it ends with a song that is still one of my favorites, "I Believe" (which was also a minor hit).

Sadly, this album was lightning in a bottle, and their next album, "Opus X" was pretty generic. But listening to "So You Wanna Be a Star" more than twenty years later, it has not dated badly. It's still a damn good pop/rock record.

1. I have the original
I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, because I was young, subject to peer pressure, and nobody else liked it.

I'll have to dig it out. Thank you for the reminder!

2. Still gets played in Canadaland
On my last visit to Vancouver, I tuned to Jack-FM ("playing what we want") just in time to hear those dulcet tones... "Gone gone gone, she's been gone so long..."

Agreed, an underrated album.

3. Chilliwack had three decent-sized chart hits in the States.

My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone) - Reached #22, 1981
I Believe - Reached #33, 1982
Whatcha Gonna Do- Reached #41, 1982

Haven't heard a damned thing from them since....
