'Immortal' jellyfish swarming across the world
The Turritopsis Nutricula is able to revert back to a juvenile form once it mates after becoming sexually mature.

Marine biologists say the jellyfish numbers are rocketing because they need not die.

Dr Maria Miglietta of the Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute said: "We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion."

"revert back to a juvenile form once it mates after becoming sexually mature."

I have the mind of a 14 year old boy on most days, get mature for a while, then revert right back to having the mind of a 14 year old boy...and I'm a woman.

:P

7. I pulled one the size of a softball out of my swim trunks (right by the unit).
Fortunately, it was clear, which apparently means they have little if any sting. The water in Ocean City, MD was murky and had the consistency of tapioca with all of the jelly fish, but everyone said they weren't the stinging kind. I felt something "not quite right" and pulled out this glob from my shorts. I guess they were right because I had no inconvenient repercussions from it. The really weird part was the next day - the water was almost perfectly clear. Was that because of the jellyfish or something else? They were all gone.

Just starve them or get a local whale to eat them. :9
