Now I have two Border Collies. My mom has a gorgeous little GSD puppy (well, not so little now that she's 5 months), that is best friends with my Border Collie puppy. She came from a schutzhund breeder, pure German lines. When they picked her up at 8 weeks, she was already trained to sit, lie down and give her paw.

I just mentioned Quantico to you. One of my girlfriends works for the SnR unit for FEMA. She trains and owns NINE border collies. She's the one who got me in to watch the FBI dogs.

Good Lord, the border collies are a handful. :)

I have two in a small house, and they can be insane. My dogs' herding instructor has about that many, though, and they're all inside dogs. Only his guardian dogs live outside.

The funny thing is, Border Collies and German Shepherds seem to understand each other quite well. Mick is much more reserved with other dogs than my puppy. The only breeds he will socialize with are Border Collies and German Shepherds. He ignores all other dogs as if they don't exist. They are merely in his way.

My stepsister's boyfriend works for customs at an airport, and in a year or so, he'll be training in their K-9 unit. Most likely, he said he'll be using a Belgian Malinois.
