Redskins Lay Off More Workers
The Washington Redskins today made their second wave of layoffs this month, letting go a majority of the employees who sell non-premium seats at FedEx Field, according to sources. The cutbacks included at least six fulltime employees and at least four seasonal employees, and all of the interns who worked in that department, according to sources.

The Redskins released at least 23 employees earlier this month at both Redskins Park and FedEx Field, and these moves today involved both the team's vice president for ticketing services, as well as both of his managers and most of their full-time staff. The Redskins declined comment earlier this month when asked about layoffs, and are making no public comment at this time, either. The club will be making its push for season ticket renewals, with most of their mailings and promotions coming out in February. The general ticket operations oversee most of the stadium - the upper and lower bowl, obstructed view and partially obstructed seasons - while premium sales (club level and other contractual tickets) account for roughly 20,000 of the 90,000 seats at FedEx Field.

1. I heard the Patriots are also laying people off
I suspect that the economic crisis is going to hit the NFL hard. Teams count heavily on their corporate sponsors and the companies buying the expensive suites and luxuary seating.
