What is your all-time favorite comic strip? (or funnies)
For me, even though it is no longer running, it's Peanuts (featuring good 'ol Charlie Brown) by Charles Schultz.

33. Calvin & Hobbes- - Eveything else is shallow and pedantic.
Peanuts? It's "quaint".

Hagar the Horrible? It is.

Beetle Baily? Beetle needs to be shipped to the 'Stan without body armor.

Gasoline Alley? Oh yes, the tales of a fat, rolly-polly grease monkey that loves to over-eat and...well, there's not much else is there? Needed to be put down 15yrs ago

Zits? How 90's. Look a supporting teenage character has piercings! So edgy.

B.C.? DOA.

Get Fuzzy? Without the cat it all falls apart.

Curtis? Modern day black Charlie Brown minus the imagination, better developed supporting cast and super cool and infinitely more important dog and his 2nd banana. Black pre-teen wanders through life trying to "get-over" on his rents and fails miserably every time.

Blondie? Eat, late for work, POW right into the mailman. Needed to be divorced over 30yrs ago.

The Lockhorns? Well, at least he can draw real pretty women when the need arises. Which is just about everyday.

Over the Hedge? Daring, exquisitely drawn and not nerdy in the least bit. The movie was a scream.

Doonesbury? More hits than miss. His post-Bush work will be interesting.

Liberty Meadows? Oh Frank Cho won't you please come back and save us from a Calvin & Hobbes-less world? Please Frank?

53. You do know that Peanuts was one of the big inspirations for Calvin and Hobbes, right?
Look at some of the earlier Peanuts strips, especially ones involving Linus. Calvin and Linus are a lot alike.

Even the crappy ones. That means you, Family Circus.

I just can't get a day done without reading the funny page out of habit. Perhaps its me trying to keep something of my youth behind.

*Except "Cathy", 'cause that woman just makes me ridiculously anxious how she freaks out over everything. If I was that Irving dude, I would have committed hari kari long ago.

Calvin and Hobbes was pretty well done, but Bill Waterston always struck me as something of a pompous ass.
