4. Cute as in "Isn't it cute to see that people think they can purchase
a life style/ image kind of way" I guess it's really a sad commentary on people's efforts to find a community or identitity.

5. A&F for being so completely, totally, unmitigatedly out of touch with it's origins
as to be unrecognizable from them.

When I first saw one in the local mall, I was puzzled--imagine my surprise when I actually stepped inside.

They used to be an outdoor sports outfitter, for those who are unaware of that.

9. Our mall just got one of those!
I didn't see signage so I asked my shopping partner what store it was. She told me and I said, "Holler-what?"
She said it's "basically the same as Abercrombie and Fitch."

11. where do you suggest people shop? what store isn't susceptible to pretentious styling?
Edited on Thu Jan-15-09 04:51 PM by Ava

and isn't accusing someone for being pretentious for shopping at a certain store a bit pretentious itself?

i'm not a fan of any of the stores listed or shopping in general, but i don't think they're "pretentious".. just aren't my style and are too expensive. most people that i know who do shop at those stores don't shope for life styles either.. just clothes.
